What Is the Purpose of National Smile Month?

As the largest and longest-running campaign to promote good oral health, National Smile Month is an important time in the calendar of dental professionals and patients across the UK. National Smile Month, which officially starts on May 18th and lasts until June 18th, was initiated as a way to indicate the importance of oral health.

Not only does good oral wellbeing provide you with an aesthetically pleasing smile but contributes greatly to overall good health. Your mouth is the gateway to your immune system and keeping it and your teeth healthy is significant to good health. How Should I Go About Maintaining Good Oral health?

The methods of keeping your oral wellbeing in check are no secret yet in our busy lives we sometimes overlook the importance of doing the essential things, such as:

    • Brushing your teeth at least twice a day. Brushing your teeth at night time is especially important, however you should find at least one other occasion in the day to have a brush and rinse.
    • Use mouthwash and floss for extra bonus points from our Oxfordshire dentists!
    • Reduce the intake of foods and drinks that are high in sugar. If you do indulge in sugary foods, make sure you don’t leave it too long until your next brush.
    • Visit your dentist regularly to avoid the build up of dental issues and to eradicate any problems as soon as they arise. At 41 South Bar, we provide all types of general and specialist dentistry treatments and procedures. Following the recommendations of our Oxfordshire dentists, regarding your visiting schedule, is important if you are to stay maintain your oral health.
